Director

Dr. Roy came to Five Prime Advisors from Immunicon Corporation where he was Senior Director of Corporate Development. At Immunicon, he led its licensing, strategic alliance, and corporate acquisition efforts. He had a key role in that company’s 2004 initial public offering. Prior to that, he was Associate Director of Life Science Licensing at the University of Pennsylvania. Earlier in his career, Dr Roy was a scientist in the bio-pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries working in both technology focused and fully integrated companies. Over his career, Dr. Roy has successfully negotiated significant licensing agreements and strategic alliances with a diverse array of companies, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Genzyme, Siemens Medical Solutions, R&D Systems, Eisai, and Streck Laboratories.

Dr. Roy holds a Ph.D. in Immunology and Toxicology and M.S. in Microbiology and Immunology from West Virginia University and a B.A. in Biology from Wake Forest University. He is a member of the Licensing Executive Society, Association of University Technology Managers, American Association of Cancer Researchers, and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has taught licensing courses for the Association of University Technology Managers. Dr. Roy is a frequent industry speaker on the commercialization of early stage technology and the formation of strategic alliances. He is an avid outdoorsman and adventurous traveler.
